Timing, Really?

So i hooked a timing light to my car for ***** and giggles. With vac adv off, 30degrees at idle. This makes her happy. if i go to 10, the idle gets rough and i have a very noticable loss of power through the entire rpm range, but it does gain a lil once the vac adv kicks in. Even at 30, it gains alot when the vac advance kicks in like it wants much more. even at 20, it still won't run like a champ. So what am i guna have to do to get it back to normal operating range?

Do you have a spare dizzy to throw in & see if it makes any difference?

And the timing chain is aligned to mark #1 on the cam gear? No slack?

If it runs really shibby @ 10* I would look at all the other sensors... mainly the TPS, CHTS, AFM, & O2 sensor.

And maybe look at the advance mechanism in the dizzy to make sure it's not sticking or out of alignment in any way.

mine loves it that high, but maybe your dizzy weights are stuck out. and you are plugging the vac line (i know you prob are) what if you boost the idle up after dumping timing. does you light have total timing built in, whats the timing at 3000 rpm?

With the vac line off, 30 at idle, and 30 at 3K makes no sense, and it's a el-cheapo light. I reduced timing to 18(under 20. above 15) reconnected vac line, ain't got a chance to do the light. I really need to buy one. and it idles low, but is ok drivability. instant TR, but you can feel a pretty decent power increase around 2.5K but did not when @30 for idle. It's a new reman dizzy, and i checked the weights there great. I have not been able to pull the valve cover yet. been playing with getting the DCOE's cleaned up.
