Throttle position sensor , zxt

1-I do this after car is warmed up for better idle.
2- with engine running disconnect TPS and locate terminals 29 & 30
3- Insert OHM meter leads into terminals 29 & 30. Meter should show continuity.
4- make sure idle speed is correct then have someone raise idle speed to 900 while probes are still in tps. As rpm's hit 900, tps should cut off, indicated by the ohm meter showing no continuity. If not you will have to move tps one way or other until this is achieved. If you cant set it replace it..........

I read what he had and it also said "follow TPS link in my sig IF you have a 75 to 78 280z with EFI" If you read all bonz post he has a 83 ZX I dont think what blue has applies on a 83. The 75 to 78 has a different type of TPS from looking at the pics. I would like to know if anyone has any info on setting up TPS on an 83 that would help performance. Always looking to sqeeze out as much power as I can...............

tps,,
Some info fisrt, the car is a 83 zxt with 144k miles, runs well and very depedable. I have a problem with a sticking throttle ,( wide open) at times. not a good situation. I checked the linkage, removed the cruise cable, and know replaced the tps, the problem still exist. I will more than likely replace the throttle cable next and see if that helps. Back to the tps,its installed but not set up yet, car runs fine just a bit slower than it was with the old one. BTW, the last time the throttle stuck I ran out of numbers on the tach, the clutch burned a bit, thats about it, cant belive the hyd lifters didnt float, great engine.

Well was wondering what you found on your sticking prob. If you are still hunting for it check the butterfly inside the tps housing. Sometimes the get carboned up, dont know how, but check the through shaft for wear and see if you can see where butterfly may be rubbing housing...........
