My '83 n/a has been running really good for almost two months now, and I'm loving every minute of it. It sure is better driving it than looking at it sit in my driveway for the past five years...

Anyway, I think it now has a personality issue...or a mechanical problem. When I'm driving normally, I hear a whining sound, much like a turbo, that I can't pinpoint. It sounds like a turbine winding up and when the clutch gets pushed in, it stops, then starts again when back in another gear. This only happens while up-shifting, not down-shifitng and not under hard acceleration, or 5th gear. Since I can't recreate this while it's parked, and the hood is up with me fingering the throttle, i have a bad feeling that it's either the tranny or the throw out bearing.

Any ideas?

I aslo get a wierd hesitation at 75 mph or aproxamately 3,000 rpm on the highway in 5th and rolling along steady. At 80+, it's fine. Below 75 same thing...fine.

Things that make me go, "Hmmmmmm".

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that. I guess I'll be having some fun when the weather gets warm enough.

Any suggestions on what type of clutch? Or would it be better to leave it stock. I am planning on doing some mods when cash and time sync up...
