Well i'm new to the site and have alot to learn about the 280zx's. Currently im working on my 1981 280zx n/a which i bought about a week ago. the car is completely stock except for some injectors i bought to get it running. The interior is decent but not at its best quality so i was thinking of making it a decent racing car. My thoughts were doing an sr20 swap since its becoming difficult to find performance parts for the L28( i maybe wrong, but correct me), if i can find some mods i'll keep the engine.

I need advice and lots of Guidance

SR20 swap would be going backwards. Swap in an L28ET... tons of parts are available. MSA, BDA, Nissan... take your pick.

 

What makes you wanna go SR20 so bad? There's a myriad other engines you can go swap. Better off going RB, V8, or some sort of JZ swap.

 

SR20 would be a cool swap but it's more suited for an S13, Datsun 510, Roadster, etc. The L28ET is your best bang for the buck performance upgrade (until you get up to around 400rwhp then the LS2, etc). If you want to do something different (but not really) drop in an RB25DET, etc. Personally I think the L28ET is lots - where are you gonna use more than 300Rwhp anyhow? The L28ET has been built to 1100rwhp (published at 700rwhp but it was out of the Electramotive race car and apparently they were holding back on the real numbers)
