some blue smoke

so the other day i was whooping a 91 mr2 turbo, when at the 5000 rpm mark in 4th gear, i had some blue smoke come piling out the back of the car. i had show my point so i let off and it stopped. due to the speed i dont really try it too often, but im wondering where it came from. i have some likely spots, but whats more likely? i have a leak in the front cover high up, are the rings starting to go. or did the pvc pull up some oil into the intake and send it thru the system? is that blow by? i have never had this so its an odd one. im also gonna do a comp test to see. whatcha think?

How much blue smoke? And it only did it once @ 5k rpm? How many miles does it have?

Could be the rings... could be the turbo... could be the valve seals... Check the plug tips when you do the comp check.

yeah, no turbo. and it really only seemed once i got to 5000 it did it, but only in 4th gear once i got there, i beat it pretty hard to that point with no smoke. its kinda weird. ill pull the plugs today, but i dunno if that will have "worn" off by now, it was yesterday and ive done normal driving since then

lol you kids!!!! its not blow by thats usually a turbo motor thing, it could be the rings or more likely valves and also the PCV. i say start with a compression check. also if it were blow by more than likely your dipstick would have shot out. lol

my freind in the mr2 said it was some smoke, not tons, but enough to make me worry. i also have an oil leak, but its never done this before, and i cant seem to do it again after driving today, even had it up to 6700 rpms a coupla times. never managed to do a comp check, or instal the new pcv i bought. oh well tom. is another day. engine has 100,000km of very hard driving on it. motor was also built to be driven hard. i figure if it blows ill dump a rb25det in it and call it a day. might as well, they are getting cheaper, and the more modern system may be a bit better on fuel. but hope i dont have to do that for a coupla years.
