Simple Question? Elusive part( Heater valve ) Can anyone steer

Hi New guy here looking for Heater core cotrol valve or heater (****) valve. Anyone steer me toward a supplier for the manual one for a 79 ZX non-turbo. Look's like this is a common problem. Nows the time to take care of it. Thanks for any help provided..WillbeWild79

Does anyone know if there is really a 'manual' one? Is the heater valve different on the manual heater controls vs the Auto Temp Control?

I've got one in my parts car but its an 83 with all the auto temp stuff... and its used.

I don' know offhand where to buy one new unless you already tried Nissan and maybe they are out of them.

I am not sure on this one. My 84 300 has the vaccume operated shut off valve. I have not seen nor looked for one on my 81 280ZX. I have the manual controlls on my car but I don't recall that shut off valve being there. If no one else answers I 'll get with you tonight when I get home and look at it.

Hi guys. This valve is located on the passenger side of the heater core cover. I call it manual because it is controled by the sliding of the temp slide on the dash which moves a cable connected to the valve control. My problem is when the temp slide is moved toward cool it starts to leak sending coolant into the Passenger floorboard. I have read other threads on the subject but have yet to find one telling where they are (or if) available. Here's a pic if it will load (I'm new here). Thanks again for any help..WillbeWild79

My heater valve doesn't work in my car. I was thinking at one time it might be vaccume controled and therefore the vaccume or switch of some sort is not working. Mine is either HOT or off. Off is when the air flaps bypass the heater core.

I guess it all depends on if the valve itself is the same. They might be; maybe they are just controlled differently.

Thanks Randy I'll give them a call. Can't have heat flowing on top of the summer heat. Plus if we decide to put the windows up on a muggy day it wouldn't be any help to the a/c ( not that I can afford to run it anyway ) Yea like I'm really going to roll up Not. Thanks for the info..Let ya'll know if it work's out..Later WillbeWild79

That dang part is like 139 dollars for a little peice of tin. Ive replaced it twice as of right now im figuring a way of how to control the heater from inside the engine bay. Kinda tried of taking off the dash everytime that little rubber seal breaks.

Maybe someone should "Home Depot" this part together, and tell us if / how it works.
