rebuilding turbos questions

So who is makes a rebuild kit for the turbo for the 280zx?

Are all rebuilding kits basically the same? or are there major differenences from let's say a t25 and a t3/04?

What does a kit consist of?

Do I nessecarly have to get someone else's rebuild kit, or can I get the parts for my own for much cheaper at a hardware/home supply store?

Take the turbo to a turbo shop & have them rebuild it. Hardware stores don't carry turbocharger rebuild kits.... it's not really a common household item.

I know they dont carry KITS, but i'm thinking maybe they carry the parts that are contained in a kit...

the reason why im asking is because i want to look into opening a turbo rebuilding business and was looking for a way to get the same parts but not have to buy someone else's kit

I suggest getting to know turbos & cars more before opening a shop. And you will have a hard time finding parts like this anywhere but from a turbo supply company.

yeah i was going to practice on some turbos i have at home for at least 6 months before trying to even open the shop to see if it's something i actually want to do. I was hoping that i could get the individual parts for less then the price of a kit but i guess not

Do you know about turbocharger maps & compressor sizes (slash) A/R? Have you read the book MAXIMUM BOOST?

Maps and A/R yes. And I've been meaning to get that book for years now... So I imagine the next thing you would say would be along the lines of "go get Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and read it front to back, back to front, and even side ways until you can write the whole book word for word from memory with your toes. Then decide if you want to start rebuilding turbos."

Am I close? lol

I agree... doesn't mean I can't still work on turbos when I'm done with it
