Junk Distributors

So far, everything I have fixed on my car has broken something else. I expected this when I decided to replace my distributor. Well, wish granted, I got everything hooked up, and no spark. After a little testing I found the wiring to the module was garbage, luckelly on these Z's everything is about a mile to long. With this done still no spark. More testing revealed that the pickup coil in my lifetime warranty Kragen distributor was junk as well. When I tested it earlier the number on the multimeter was right and the decimal was about 4 places off in the wrong direction! So i can see how a rebuilder would have messed up. I had to rob the pickup coil out of the old dizzy which I was replacing for excessive shaft play. Now, I probably wont be able to return the old one as a core because I destroyed it trying to figure out how to remove the pickup coil. THE BOTTOM LINE:

DONT CHEAP OUT ON ELECTRONIC PARTS! For what it cost me to get the Cardone dizzy working I could have bought the Beck Arnley one. Dont let them get you with a bullshit warranty. A warranty wont tow you off the side of the road in the middle of nowhere when your car conks out. Damn this all pisses me off! at least its running I guess.

Welcome to "Fixing up an old car" HELL! This is the sort of thing that will drive you crazy, but it's gratifying once you get a problem solved. Glad you got it running. Now... On to the next part of the project. Good Luck. ... Rod.
