intermittent ignition problem, losing spark
hello,
i have a 1976 280Z with a 1982 280ZX turbo motor installed along with the brain (ECU), harness, ignition system, fuel system etc. etc. off of a 82zxturbo. i've had the engine and turbo rebuilt and the car ran excellent for two years with no problems. but now with no warning it loses spark and cuts off. i replaced the coil, transistor module, crank angle sensor, brain box and even the fuel system relay (if that pertains) and the car still loses spark and cuts off. now its been parked for months because sometimes it will start and sometimes it wont. i cant take it on the street because i'm afraid it will just stall on me. occasionally it will start and i would let it sit in idle until it cuts off. this usually takes minutes or sometimes hours, totally unpredictable when it cuts off. then, when i try to start it again there is no spark.
please help.
James

Check your grounds starting from the battery and gradually work to the grounding points to the engine and chassis. A loose/bad ground can cause the problems you are having. Only other thing I can think of is a possible bad air flow meter.
