Intakes?

Howdy, I have a 1979 datsun 280zx and well, I am currently looking for a cone intake for it. The stock one looks pretty ugly on it and its all corroded. I was checking out the Motorsports website and noticed they no longer have Intake systems for my year and model. Do any of you know where I can get one pre-made, or have the blue prints for making my own? Any help is welcome, thanks!

I think the size you need is approx 2.5 inches OD.

If you go PVC, I've found that the 2 inch pipe is actually close to 2.5 OD. The 2.5 pipe is close to 3 inch OD. Anyway, bring a small tape measure with you and measure your car before you go. (write things down too)

Thanks a bunch, i was planning on going with pvc or aluminum piping, not really gooing for looks but best performance for the amount of money i have. I checked out pepboys today for some cone air filters and i found nothing like ice's, in the picture you sent your cone is like 5 feet long, all i could find were like 5" cones. Oh well, I'll find a way to work it out.

FYI...

Alright I being bored as i was calculated the size k&n filter needed for the 280zx NA at the RPM attaining max HP. A filter, 6" diameter that is 3" tall, will provide a little more than enough survace area to give the maximum amount of HP gain possible with K&N filter technology. Buying a larger filter=more surface area=longer sevice intervals, not more power. A Cone also provides more survace area than a cylinder of the same height and base diameter considering that the filter cloth is originally shaped like a cylinder then folded a bunch and arranged into a cone. So i would assume the an optimum filter might be something like 6high 6base diameter and 5top diameter. This would provide more than enough cfm of air, provide a slightly longer service interval and when you go to clean it, it wont take you 6hrs to wash all fifty million square inches of your moster filter the size of texas...a little exageration, but you get the idea. ill post pics of my intake asap!
