fuel lines, and airconditioning????

hey I need a little help with my fuel lines... I have an aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator for my 81zxt. It has two inlets and one outlet. Is it all right to run from the fuel filter to one inlet of the regulator, and then from the other inlet to my fuel rail. Leaving just the return opening going back to the tank??? Or does it have to run from the filter through the rail, then through the regulator and back to the tank??? I am just looking to save money on fittings and braided hoses.
Also does anyone know how to discharge the air conditioning unit. I am looking to take mine out completely....

thanks,
Jason
