Engine bay

This probably won't make sense so baer with me for a moment. Today I was looking at my engine bay and I dislike at how crowded everything looks. So I was wonderind if I remove things like breather tube, egr, cruise, and other stuff what do I do with the holes that are there for them? Do I just cap them off or leave open?

I would plug all open holes to avoid a nasty vacuum leak. I've been told that removing the "rats nest" of lines and emissions crap not only tidies up the engine bay, but also gives a slight up in hp. I can't confirm this, because my Z needs to be emissions-friendly (damn Utah and their emissions ...), or else people in high places will be very very unkind ... just be careful you don't unplug the vacuum-advance tube for your distributor and the tube running to your master cylinder. As long as you don't have to get emissions-tested, I say go for it, and happy tube-tearing ! I've found vacuum lines are a great way to relieve or gain stress (careful, it works both ways!) ...

Hey, thanks for the advice. Here in Nevada we get the dreaded smog test, but lucky for me, one of my best friends is a certified smog tester. So he just puts my vechicle info in the computer and tests his own car. I get the passing printout to go to the D.M.V.

Lucky you - hopefully I'll get my shop registered as a state inspection place soon, but then I'll be getting bribed up the wazoo by people looking to get their cars to pass with a stinky tailpipe - and sadly, none of my cars pass emissions right now - and the RallyBeater is bone stock! Well, stock aside from the blown headgasket but that's beside the point ... Also a hard part will be getting my registered importer's certificate (soon enough I'll have a RHD Fairlady legally operable in the state of Utah ) ...

What about if I still haven't transfered the title yet?

And its not non existant! It has moved several times in the last 3 years that I have owned it. In fact, just a few months ago I pushed it to its current resting point. I even washed it and put the car cover back on.

Its my trophy Z. Its just for looks and for something extra to put in my forum signature.

My plan is to clean it up and do some restoration while trying to preserve all of the original parts as much as possible. It has a red paint job now, and I want to repaint it back to the original orange color. I'm keeping the original L20 in it. I'll probably go with polished 14" aluminum wheels found on most late 70's Fairlady Z's. The early fairlady just had black steel wheels. So, I'm keeping it stock and it will be driven only for pleasure; not a daily driver or anything. I'll bring it to every Datsun show I can once it is ready in 12 years.
