you wanna see what 9psi of boost does? watch the race car halfway throught this short video, he normally runs 19 pounds, he says its insane, hes got the low cr, so you tell me what you wanna do. it also has to run 110 octane race gas to support the 19 psi, 94 octane for the 9psi

minimum, power doesnt ever have cheap attached to it. 15 cents a liter more than regular, trust me, i know! even after the motor is built, it costs in mpg, and the price of gas.

i think any turbo motor needs premium fuel, now what if say, you turn it up to impress a buddy or chick, and you got the cheap gas in? kaa boooooom. nissan says premium right from the factory, on what, 4-7 psi stock?

Steven... I do not say this rudely, but it sounds like you are trying to be cheap.

Cheap costs more in the end. Just do it right the first time.

Like Shady was sayin... welcome to high octane

I get about 15mpg in my 280zxt.

I've heard a lot of people say that MegaSquirt settings do allow for better mpg, but if you're boosting all the time & driving wild, ya gunna get crappy mpg.

Another thing (I don't think you mentioned it in your list) that you need is a good electronic boost controller. DO NOT buy a manual valve.

Unless you're going up a hill or trying to accelerate really fast, you don't need to "cut the boost." If you're not heavy on the throttle, you're not boosting a lot.

Why spend all this money on building a turbo motor then go cheap on the gas? Think of it as insurance for your motor. I'm actually going with flat tops for my built motor for beter quench but no where near 9.5:1. I'm gonna keep it closer to 8.5:1. Tuning is key when running higher than 8:1 on L-motors. Not going for 20+ lbs of boost or peak HP or I would run a lower C/R.

If this is your first turbo motor then you should stick with the stock turbo pistons like already advised. It will keep you out of trouble and your motor will last.

edit: Forgot to add - Read the book

Nissan actually says in the FSM I have ( I think it was that or the glovebox book) that the NA and turbo for 1982 run on 87 octaine.

6psi is stock from what I've seen
