back up lights (revers)

I am getting my 280 ready for inspection, and my backup lamps are not coming on. I get low power to the socket when checking with my metter. I cleaned the soket, and looked at the chiltons auto manule wiring schematic. the lights go to ascd system. what is that? I was thinking of checking the switch, but it bugs me getting low power to the socket, cause that makes me think there is resistance in the line, or a short. the lights are not lighting thogh. any ideas?

I have the same problem, Id check the fuse, make sure the bulbs are good. I checked both those on my car and they were fine so I am guessing there must be some kind of switch in the shifter that isn't working.

Check your fuse... check to make sure the 2 wires are connected to the reverse switch on the tranny.... you can also use some Lime Away in the sockets to clean corrosion...

OH... BTW, I would recheck the wires you traced in the Chilton manual. ASCD (Automatic Speed Control Device) is the cruise control.

the bulbs are good, wich fuse is it because it isn't in the bood?

by the way nismo how did you mount the front blinkers in the air dam in the picture? I have the smae one and my blinkers have nothing to mount in the holes. I was thinking about making a fiberglass molld on the dam that will hold them with some screws.

Should be a fuse in the passenger kick panel (under the passenger dashboard, by the front of the door).

The front turn signals are just mounted to the stock bumper frame. You did keep the metal bumper frame right?

LoL... Did you read the installation instructions??? You're supposed to keep the bumper frame & put the kit on over the top of it.

they didn't send instructions, but I tried it like that anyway, but they did a shity job making it, and wouldn't fit right with the bumper frame on.

The fuses are good, so I am going to hook up to each fuse conection, and put the car in revers till I get a reading, if I don't get one then I will check the switch on the trans.

puting the car in revers didn't change any reading on the conections, so I guess that means it might be the switch.

i dont have bumpers under my car but i will be welding 2 bars across front and rear shock absorbers, or get aluminum square tubing and make my own bumper..., imagine hitting a light pole dead on...your engine will be in the hatch...
