another turbo post (wastage knowledge)
I have been getting the things together to turbo my zx. My question involves instillation though. Before I get jumped about not doing my own research, I have been looking but believe my wording is off or I'm typing the wrong thing.
Now to my question, may seem stupid but I'm having trouble understanding where to mount the wastegate. I know it goes before the turbo, but if the turbo bolts to the manifold that doesn't leave much of a spot. do i need to cut and weld it in? or do I need to make some sort of spacer with a special mount for it.
Thanks for taking the time guys.
also let me add some of these

That would depend on the type of wastegate:
Internal (stock 280zx T3) mounts to the turbo, and requires no other modifications.
External mounts between the exhaust manifold and bypasses the turbo. It requires either cutting a hole in the manifold and welding on a port (welding on cast iron is looked down upon and should only be done by a professional), or use a spacer between the turbo mounts, pushing the turbocharger out about 3".
So... what do you want? Then do that...

Seems that you are missing some fundamental understanding of how turbochargers work. I suggest doing some reading first. There's a great book called Maximum Boost that can be found all over the internet in PDF.
To answer your question: The stock 280zx turbocharger didn't have an adjustable wastegate, but most modern internal wastegate actuators are adjustable (the stock T3 actuator can easily be replaced). You can use either a manual or electronic boost controller, depending on your wants and needs. MBC's are cheap and unreliable. EBC's are expensive and much more reliable... plus if you need to change boost settings for a quick race, you don't have to pull over and pop the hood.
