I NEED A WELDER!!! (knowledge needed inside)

so, since the 260 is sold as long as ray doesnt go flake on me for sum nuts *** reason, i decided i wanted to get a welder. im not really into spending much over 600 all in all. so i started searching craigs list. this is what ive come up with. let me know what you guys think of each

1) http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/tls/579252047.html

2) http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/tls/573722943.html

3) http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/tls/574980494.html

4 (this guy seems a bit outta him mind for the price) http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/tls/571935624.html

now chances are i wont be able to buy either of these time frame wise, but it will help me out with what im looking for. so any advise or w/e will help a bunch. i want to be able to weld exhaust stuff and other fairly thick steels (average fab work like if i wanted to make a go-kart, lol, or a new exhaust, or IC pipiing, or perhaps a S/C mount and setup.)

dunno anything about welders, but at the napa near me, when you buy any welder, some local retard will give you like 4 lessons on how to use it. seems like a good deal to me. but i don't know if anyone has that near you

Lincoln welders rock.... but do you know how to MIG weld? And what do you plan to use it for?

Those first two Lincoln's will do great for sheet metal & exhaust welding. Just make sure the welder is set up for gas connection (argon/CO2). Flux core welding sucks ace and looks just as bad. And... pay attention to the power supply. 110v vs 220v. 220 is more powerful, but you are limited to a location that has 220v plugs.

I've been planning to get a MIG welder as well, take the course at the community college, and my uncle know how to mig weld so he could teach me as well.

w/e you do GET gas such as argon . I love Lincoln. i use a 220 at school and a 110 at home for small stuff. Truly flux is not bad. if you know how to weld flux should not be a problem. the gas and flux just keeps the wire from popping and splattering. It comes down to what you plan to use it. As long as you have clean metal to weld on and have good penetration its all go. depending what what im welding on i either do a upside down U formation or i do a figure 8. get some scrap metal and test it out.

Speaking of welders, I passed my 1,2g-1,2f Horizontal today. I am very happy, I am now a certified welder, I take my down hand Thursday, wish me luck.

Lincoln is a good brand. Get a 220v and have someone put an outlet for it in your garage. The closer you are to you power source the better your machine will work. Also listen when everyone says get Argon/co2 bottle, otherwise your welds will look like bird sh*t.

the dryer is practically in the garage, so if it is a 220V outlet no point in spending the $$$.

what are you gonna weld?
we have a wire welder here its good for little not so load bearing projects, not too bad for patch pannels as long as your steady. usually pick up a cheepo one at harbor freight for $100 bucks, you get what you pay for but were not making tubular framed cars in my garage.

Meh... important info should be at the top of the post and before the links. No one reads below posted links unless there's a huge paragragh (ok that's just me).

i didnt read because i didnt want to.
how are you going to make tubular chassis in college, no place to put!

although being an air freak i would imagine you could use it to make a wicked custom ultralite.

i could make an ultra light, or a super bike powered go-kart, and i wouldnt make a tube chassis, but a roll cage/bar would be doable. maybe some custom aluminum dashes. fun stuff. frame rails and stuff. custom mounts for a potential RB/SR swap. yeah ive thought of it.

500lb go kart? wtf! more like 300-400 with passanger. lol. you wanna use a car motor though? that is big and would need a huge radiator. thats why id rather use this honda CBR600 motor i have sourced out. its an earlier 90's one but should still suffice just fine. plus, i could like drive that to school. lol! not really, but it would be fun and maybe even worth the attempt. whats the worst that could happen?!?!

stay away from smaller 110 welders they really suck when it comes to really welding anything.
