Another Hypothetical question (turbo related)

Turbo lag. That annoying time between foot-down and full turbo. So heres an idea. and if i'm hittin on old news, shut me up. So here it is.

Could you take an air pressure tank, like for airring up tires, and run an air line from it to your intake manifold (with a pressure regulator of course) set to just below your BOV's max pressure, and shoot pressurized air into the intake manifold right off the bat to get that turbo effect while your turbocharger is still spooling up?

There are kits out there to do just that.... spool the turbo more quickly. Some people like them, some don't. You really need to understand how a turbo works and why there is turbo "lag" before doing such a project. Reading the book MAXIMUM BOOST will help you understand that a proper turbo, plumbing (intake and exhaust), and fuel system for the motor is the most efficient / best way to make power.

I know there is an Anti-Lag system (and that is the name) but I'm pretty sure it just ignites excess fuel in the exhaust manifold. It's very popular with the Turbo cars rallying Pikes Peak

and theres the stutterbox. but thats just creating a stutter at launching rev's which more safely builds boost, but i think not quite as efficiently or smoething.

i was getting more at pressurizing the intake manifold. i was thinking it would work on turbo cars, or could simulate a turbo charger on non-turbos. For as long as the air pressure lasted that is. kinda like Poor Boy NoS.

it wouldnt work, once the Throttle body opens, that charged manifold would become uncharged in a second.

ah. yeah i guess i didn't think about that. even under a constant pressure, it would just backfeed out through the air intake system, unless you had a turbo, and as said there are more efficient methods for bypassing this problem with turbo cars. well, thanks for the feedback.

That extra air would have to be metered for any gain to be expected.
