Taking the plunge...getting an L28ET for my '82 Slicktop

Well, I've decided to go ahead & do it...Buying an L28ET from an '83 Turbo that a guy pulled to swap into his '77, then lost motivation. It's got the harness & ECU, but the T-5, clutch & flywheel are gone...I guess I'll be on the lookout for a 240mm flywheel & a turbo downpipe (or at least the flange to weld onto my existing exhaust). I plan on just keeping it stock for the meantime. Down the road will be a bigger cam, intercooler, injectors, turbo, Megasquirt. My L28E has around 244,000 miles on it, and although it runs good, it's starting to smoke a little bit (probably needs the head redone). I figure this is a better idea than trying to milk power out of an NA.

I AM a bit worried about the harness modifications...been looking at Bleach's NA to Turbo swap writeup. I wish there was someone else here in Albuquerque who could help me out a bit! My '82 slicktop isn't the nicest in the world, but it makes me happy & I couldn't complain about the price or how reliable it's been! It will get to where I want it to be eventually...baby steps! It's got an MSA Jet Hot coated header, no cat, custom exhaust with a stainless bullet type muffler, CAI...basically stock & loud. I've got some Tokiko springs coming soon, as well as the pieces that go under the front bumper that always get dented up, which has been bugging the hell out of me! Paint next year. Here's a pic of it...sorry it's sideways!

Yeah...I kind of doubt that! My weakest other car makes 320 rwhp...the fast one makes 522 rwhp. I doubt that 180 flywheel hp is going to overwhelm me, but the poor Z needs some *****!

Yeah, but I'm not buying another headache anytime soon. Probably will get flamed for this, but I actually prefer driving a ZX over a Z. More comfortable, better driving, better brakes, already has an R200, already has a 5-speed, no exhaust fumes, I fit better (I'm 6'5" tall). We all have our preferences. I prefer the ZX since my Dad had one when I was a kid, same color as mine. The ZX isn't THAT heavy anyways...it's still lighter than my 5.0 GT.

Motor will be shipped out shortly! Got a good deal on a downpipe, 240mm flywheel & turbo clutch too. Now I'm going to have to get down & dirty with the wiring...NOT looking forward to that part! Any help/advise is greatly appreciated!

I have to agree, the ZX is a bit more comfortable. I love driving the S30s and the S130s.

Since my current "sports car" beats the crap out of me when I drive it. Heim joints, welded body, welded cage, aluminum bushings, 35 series tires, stiff *** coilovers & tight Recaros. It's meant for one reason, and cruising isn't it...

If you can do an SR20 swap, you can easily do the L28ET swap.
