81 2x2 coupe Aspirator blower making noises
81 2x2 coupe Aspirator blower making noises
First of all, I'm the new kid on the block...Had my 81 2x2 for 6 years now.
I'm located just west of Lincoln, Nebraska.
The problem is, as near as I can tell, after doing a search for ASPIRATOR BLOWER. There were only two old, old threads, but they really didn't answer what I'm looking for.
So my first question is, What is it for?
Problem, it makes noise like it is a aspirator blower motor squeaking...Noise is coming from center of dash, almost like it is behind or somewhere near the oil pressure gauge. The noise comes on when the key is to the start position, but not starting the car...It is continuously squealing as engine is on.
Second question, am I going to have to take the whole dash apart to get to it? OH I HOPE NOT...
Thanks for your replies

Air actuator
Your AC and heater system is run on vacuum, there are several actuators that open and close vents, most likely you have one that is leaking and pulling vacuum. Does it change any if you change settings on the heater control ?
The heater box is the one with all the controls on it, you will need to remove the Blower section and AC section to get to the heater section to replace the part, if that is the problem. There is a vacuum line going from your Carbon canister to the firewall on the passenger side, temporarily disconnect the vacuum line to the firewall and see if the noise stops.

Just disconnect one of the wires that coming out from the Sensor and it will stop making noise. You can get to it through the glove box, take off the inside liner and you should see it.
I did that until I found a replacement. You can lubricate it but it will go back making noise again after a while.

Thanks Predator. But, even if the car was not running. then there is no vacuum...So it wouldn't be a vacuum related...the noise is as if there is a blower motor running constantly....as soon as the key is turned on.
From what I can somewhat figure out. I have the auto control....The aspirator blower motor should be up under the dash??? somewhere near that interior sensor that is in the center of the dash.
I could live without having the interior sensor. If it wouldn't cause everything else to take a dump on me, I'd just disconnect the aspirator motor, somehow, someway.

Thanks for helping on the disconnect...I'll do that first thing tomorrow...Well...maybe second thing!!!!
