79 280zx: I have 2 Questions
My first question has to do with mileage... what kind of mileage should i be looking at with a manual 5 speed 79 280zx?
second question is about RPMs... When my RPM's are high, like 2-3000, and when i throw my car into neutral, the RPM's will stay up at about 2,000 rpms until i come to a complete stop of unless i down shift.. Is this normal? like to make shifting smoother? or is it something I need to have fixed? any ideas?
Thanks.

As far as gas mileage goes, I'd expect about 20-22mpg out of a typical Z car that is in an excellent state of tune. There are some guys who claim to get about 26-36mpg, but I've never seen anything close to that with mine (even on the highway).
With your engine getting stuck at 2000-3000 rpm after you shift into neutral, it could be a number of things. First of all, it's not normal for any car to do that. The first thing that I would do would be to spray out the throttle body with some cleaner, and check for smooth operation of the throttle valve. Then inspect your throttle linkages and springs all the way back from the throttle body to the gas pedal. It sounds like something is binding in there.
