280zx turbo queries

Well; i have one question: The ignition module for a 280zx turbo; does it control the efi? could it going bad possibly cause the computer to read wrong? and these are my current problems and what i have done:

My car doesn't start; i ordered a new power transistor; the one that is by the coil
My turbo works; but it makes a rattling like bearings are loose; how hard would it be to check that out? i/e; is it worth checking on my own?
had a flat; aired it up
rust; sand paper; and primer; and bondo
and my metal band is on the net! www.myspace.com; look for autoclave; i know this has nothing to do with z cars; but my guitar work is one of the few things that keeps me sane.

If anyone can help answer these; plz do so i am much obliged for all the help i have had. still kickin it; z style

The IM controls the ignition, it doesn't affect the fuel infection, which is what the computer controls.

If you pull your intake tubing off of the turbo you can check the shaft of the turbo by seeing if it has any freeplay. Up-down, sise to side, or fore and aft. I'm not sure what the SPECS ARE FOR MOVEMANT, BUT THERE SHOULDN'T be much. Also make sure the shaft spins freely, You shouldn't have to force it to spin.

Hope this helps.

if you want a turbo that is going to last any length of time, the play should be less than 1-2mm I think.

I think you mean 0.1 - 0.2 mm.(.004-.008 inches). Any more than that and you will get oil in your intake since the seal will also be worn out. And yes, you should be able to spin it freely with your finger.
