For $200 you couldnt buy the stainless pipes and the couplings.
If you did it yourself, great...But most people dont have the tools to weld stainless steel. Hence the price. Also, your system looks fairly hacked together, instead of using all stainless and silicone, you used steel and rubber...It also looks like you cut your J-pipe and did a big fat bead onto a piece of steel.
It works, but it definitely wont last forever, and is not show quality, hence the major price difference.

Sounds like you have yourself quite the business opportunity if you can do what you say! Most performance shops charge aprox $80/hr, so you could do the same work for $5/hr you can start running all of them out of business

If you're piecing together an intercooler setup from junkyard parts then yeah, $500 is expensive. But I've also seen intercooler kits that cost well over $1k! So I'd say $500 is a good deal for someone who doesn't have the fabbing skills to do their own setup. I'm going route of fabbing my own V-mount setup to get the best possible efficiency and still keep cost down by doing it myself.

If you can build the same system for $200 like you said, and sell it for $500, $300 is quite a bit of profit no?
I have my reserve price set far below profit...If the final bid goes up over about $1050, then I will have made profit, but I doubt it will.
