Welcome to ZDriver!

So the car doesn't start? Does it have power?

He most likely fried the fusible links and/or the ecu (computer). Check the links & fuses... if they are good, swap in another ecu.

First: Shoot your brother.

Second: Check the ECU, if it wasn't too long ago you should be able to smell if it was what was burning. If it isnt the ECU, listen to NismoPick as i'm out of ideas.

Edit: if it is your ECU I have a 280zx ECU, for a turbo I think, I'll have to check the number on it.

Third: Welcome to Zdriver

someone did this to a 280ZX I had.

In the end, one of my relays was bad and had to be replaced. It was one of the five that are in a plastic box in front of the right strut tower. Otherwise, just a fusable link.

Before replacing the ecu you could check the green light. Underneath the ecu, when the key is in the on position, you should see a green light.

Notice that the owner never shorts the battery. Its always a brother or in-law or something. Yeah, uh... my buddy was helping me one day and the battery was low...
