1981 280zx won't start cold: HELP?

It will start and run fine if I squirt starting fluid in the breather. It will also start after it's warmed up. But it won't start the first time of the day ever without the fluid. It just cranks and cranks like it's getting no gas. I wonder if it's the cold start valve but don't know how to check it. Also, it may not even be cold enough for the cold start to be triggered--it's only about 70 degrees here! Please any advice would be great. Especially how to check the cold start or the switch for the cold start. Thanks, Doug.

Check your connection on your cold start injector, it should have a blue connector near the trottle body
