What Cleans Your Glass Good?
What Cleans Your Glass Good?
My windshield and windows have a hazy and a "hard water spotted look" on them after they are cleaned with Windex. Is there something like vinegar etc. that can make glass look clear? Or is it just old hazy glass that I will have to live with? Thanks.

vinegar does the best job--i use it exclusively in my washer system and never have problems unless i run out for more than a few days........using straight vinegar in the winter in snow country keeps the salt buildup nonexistent.......ya dont need stronger stuff to erode the system--vinegar does it gently and thoroughly,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,smells like salad when ya use it, too--kinda different.......just plain white distilled vinegar.......cheep, too............
......i use it on my boat, too.....
.........BTW------rods stuff works too----it is just stronger...........

Windex is a joke...what you need is sulfuric acid and bleach...mix well with ammonia and easy off oven cleaner with a dash of BAM!! Breath deeply...if you wake up your head will be fuzzy and you won't think about your windshield so much
The C.L.R. Will work as well as the Vinegar, just scrub with a green Scotch Brite pad in small circles, rinse off with water and you should be good to use the windex after to get rid of any streaking. I would get some good old RainX and do the outside when it is clean. The inside may be cleaned with straight windex and newspaper...just push fairly hard with the news paper and when you are done it should look transparent....the glass that is.

DONT USE RAIN X OR SIMMILAR PRODUCTS. they really suck, drive at night and turn on your wipers, they leave a momentary streak behind the wiper that blinds you when lights are coming the opposite way. it also leaves a weird film that takes ages to go away. not to mention it does fling the misty kinda rain off the windscreen forcing you to use your wipers causing the above problem. vicious cycle. i hate all that crap. vinegar works great. for the inside get the spray foam for automobiles.

....actually, I have never had a problem with rainX...it's all in how it is applied....use a few drops of water when removing the haze after it is applied and that's it...always works good for me as long as the glass is perfectly clean before it is applied.

I get dozens of them in the boxes our servers are shipped in. I usually grab a dozen or so every couple of months to replace the old ones in my gun safes.
I had a seal leak in my 240Z when I first got it and I used a boat load of them in there after I found and sealed the leak.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot that spitting into your goggles when diving helps keep them from fogging. Haha, now I only need to spit all over the inside of my windshield (I better start drinking some water!) =P

Hey, maybe Rainex on the inside would solve that!!!
I learned as a kid to break up a cigerate and rub it in your face mask with a little water. That would keep the mask from foging up when swimming. It might work on the same principle, but too much trouble for a car windshield.
Polish the inside of your windshield and windows with toothpaste....really...
A trick I learned scuba diving, it fills in all the peaks and valleys in the glass which collect condensation. It'll just be a pain in the @$$ but you will be able to see and it will leave your car smelling minty fresh!!
