Power windows won't roll down!!!

Hello everyone, I'm new to the Z world and recently purchased a 1983 280ZX and I'm having issues with the power windows not rolling down and gas gauge not working. I have searched this site for answers but no luck so far. I checked the fuses and fusible link and both check out ok, where else can I start looking? Thanks for your help in advance.

Get the FSM from XenonS130 first.

There is a breaker for the power windows in the passenger foot well near the fuel pump relay, fuse block, etc...

Fric thanks for your help. I did some more poking around and found the problem.... I think, all I can come up with is that the power window (circuit) breaker is bad. I did test both motors and they are working fine, the two window switches aren't getting any power. Anyone have an extra one laying around or know were I can find one? I check with my local parts stores and they had no luck finding one.

Gas gauge could be your fuel sending unit has corroded. Was your car stored for a long period of time? Assuming your gauge is stuck in one position.

I just had this issue after my car sat for many years. Can walk you through a simple repair if you're interested.

use some mechanics wire and jumper the breaker and see if the windows work, that will give you a direction to head. gas guage could be the dash but is most likely the sender in the tank. open the inspection cover in the back and ensure its plugged in and not corroded badly.

Would the breaker kill all window functions?

My kid's car is having some issues and I was going to troubleshoot today but the heat index was about 115F..

passenger window buttons don't do anything.

driver's side controls for passenger window work fine for both up and down functions.

driver's side controls for driver's window work for up, but not down... aaaand somewhere along the last 35 years, someone switched the wires so you have to push the button down for up and up for down..

it's a 1980 NA by the wya, and I have the FSM, but like I said, it's been too hot to get out there, if anyone else has come across this, I'm open to ideas. Otherwise I'm gonna start from the window motor and make sure it's getting power everywhere until I find a problem.. (window motor, switch, breaker, etc..)
