Power Windows
Power Windows
Would it be easier to take the power windows out of another car or just change doors. Can you just take the motor out and put it in your doors or do you need the track and all that? I went to the junk yard today to look for small interior bits and got lazy and did not roll up passenger side window and when I came out some one stole my sterior, and amp, and speakers. Bastards, even broke up the part that holds the radio, and stole the rear passenger side panel that the amp was bolted too.
I put electric window motors in my 1980 280zx in about an hour. Just a few bolts to remove the actuator with the motor attached to it. Then attach the new/used motor and replace the whole thing. I got my motors on ebay.
I'm sorry , I thought you were just replacing a bad motor. I'm not sure, but I think you should be able to put power windows in a crank style door. You will need the switches and power to it them. Also you might have to run wires from the passenger side to the driver side switch. The actuator assembly on a powered style is different from the manual style. It's not hard to remove the actuator assembly on a powered style. You might measure the bolt positions to make sure, also check to see if the door has holes to support the motor assembly. If not, it would be easier to just get electric equipped doors, but you will probably have to run the wires anyway.
