Need some opinions on Satellite Radio antenna placement

Had a new radio installed on my 83 ZX with XM radio. The installation put the antenna in the corner of the dash to conceal it but the reception is spotty because it looses signal. I was going to have it installed by the washer nozzle on the hatch but they talked me out it saying it would hurt the look and value of a classic car. What do you all think? Would it really look bad on the hatch? I know the car didn't come with satellite radio but would it really look bad?

Welcome to ZDriver!

I had a Bimmer w/ XM Radio already installed. They glued the receiver to the windshield by the rear view mirror & tucked the wire in under the roof liner / trim. Perfect reception.

Use Shoe Goo or Goop to glue it onto the windshield. It will stay on forever if you want or you can apply continuous presure and remove it if you ever need to - win/win.

On a side note.... Satelite radio stinks. There is just as much or more advertisement on it than the local radio stations. Now with the data packages on your phone you have WAY more streaming audio options on the internet that you can run through your stereo...

^ Or just have a loaded 240gb Ipod like I have. I currently have almost 52k songs on a custom built one. I used a 5th generation 80gb ipod. Bought a new logic board, 6th generation front cover, and changed the earphone jack, and hold button to black ones. And of course bought a 240gb hard drive, and started filling it up.

And I run my ipod through my car stereo. Or listen to it at work. No commercials.

Actually I had to run a different program to be able to fill the big hard drive. I am running Rockbox firmware on my Ipod. I take it you have had problems with Apple/Itunes?

Lol - I've been using computers since the Vic20 came out and iTunes is - bar none - the absolute worst and least intuitive piece of software I've ever used. It's mind boggling that consumers tollerate what Steve tells them they want. Just the simple fact that backing up your contacts to a file you can easily backup and export is nearly impossible should have every alarm bell created going off. I can't count the "iTunes won't let me restore my contacts - that's my life! - help!" I've heard. Thankfully it will soon be a trickle of the blind Apple die hards now that Android is out. The hardware is very well done it's just too bad the software noose has to be so tight....

but back on topic.... I'd rather have satelite radio than use an iPo.... argh nevermind
