Mirrors

I recently got my 83 280zx up and running again. Now I would like to get it driving daily.

My biggest problem is mirrors. Both driver and passenger side mirrors are broken and I need replacements before I get it legal. I don't really want to put holes in my doors in order to install some univeral mirrors. Does anyone know where I can get a stock replacement or slight upgrade within a week or so? Just something that will go on without any modifications.
Thanks for any help
-Q

Have you checked any local junk yards?

Junk yards are pretty much your only option unless you want to spend over $100 each on new one's from Victoria British's new Nissan/Datsun 'enterprise':

http://www.blackdragonauto.com/pdfca.../pdf/Z/Z03.pdf

Ignore the '79-81 and '82-83 model years, there's no difference in the mounting. I can't figure out why they want $399.99 for one mirror from the '82-83...

Anyway, they're not electric and they don't have any for the passenger side... Crazy I know, but that's the way it goes with old cars and limited old stock of spare parts.

OH MY GAWD $399 for a mirror And its not even power. Yeah why are the prices different. I've got an 83 mirror on my 81 No difference at all from the original except that the 83 mirror actually works (it's power) and the old 81 mirror didn't.

I believe certain 82 - 83 models had heated side mirrors... hence the "take it up the ***" pricetag. Tho they don't specify.

heated? Are they auto heated... where's the switch? Maybe tied in with the rear defroster?

I was wondering if mine were. it seems my mirrors on the Z clear rather quickly while the old truck's stay frosted if I don't scrape them clean. In fact, my two 83 parts cars might have heated mirrors. I'll clean them up and ask $350 each.

Switch is located between the mirror joy stick controllers on the center console. If the mirrors have the defroster, you will see a lil defroster logo in the lower corner of the mirror surface.

Where are you at Qosin? I've got a pair of electric mirrors [that still work, to the best of my knowledge] on my '81 2+2. The passenger side has a chunk taken out of the shell, but you can swap the shell of your mirror onto the working parts. I'll let them go for $35. -Dave-O

And for everyone else that needs mirrors, they're constantly floating around on ebay. You can get a power mirror for fairly cheap. Not as cheap as D's offer there though.

NLA. Nobody cared about the ZX style fender mirrors so they were discontinued a long time ago. Go to Japan and steal some from a parking lot.

You can possibly still get the 240Z style Fairlady Z fender mirrors...
