Interior question/Front end.

Hey guys I'm getting ready to pick up my sons 1979 280zx coupe. Its an Automatic trans. the car runs like a champ minus needing some new strut shocks. Now the interior is absolutly positively trashed. Way to much sun over the years. almost all plastic is busted, no headliner, actually the dash is nice and all gauges look like new, So I'm lucky there. We want to replace the whole interior. I have been looking around and found alot of the big stuff. carpet, seats, headliner, center console ect. What I would like to know is where I can find the piece of plastic that goes over your head on the roof. and maybe a parts list of the interior panels. Also do some of the 280z parts coenside with the zx panels. I've found the overhead trim for a 240? We may just fiberglass the rear trim plastic and upholster them in somthing, but some of it like the roof peice is way to far gone.
Now the body is real straight minus one rear quarter panel dent down by the bumper and the bumper is bent a bit, We are gonna do some kind of Body kit so I would like to know can you give the 79 zx the same front end look as the 78 280z. Thanks in advance, I'm sure once I bring her home the questions will be coming in so please bear with me.. New to these ladies. But very excited.. A build thread will go with her..

You get parts at the Z parts places... MSA / BDA / Nissan.

www.thezstore.com

www.blackdragonauto.com

www.courtesyparts.com

http://nissan4u.com (part schematics & part #'s)

Thanks I looked through those sites, They don't say anything specific for that car. just a few parts, Wondering if some of the interior panels intermingle from year to year.

Keep looking... BDA has a full section on interior...

And yes, parts are interchangeable between years, but be careful of the 2seater vs 2+2 differences (2+2 has a longer roof & hatch area). So roof trim, and hatch trim are different sizes.

The keywords you want to use are "roof trim". There's several on ebay right now, although they're around $100. You'd probably do a lot better on pricing from scouring the for sale sections of the various Z sites.

But not the part he's looking for. I'm shopping for one as well.
