Angry Goodbye Bumpers!

I've had it with the 280zx bumpers, are bumpers legally required? Is it possible to get a classic look like the 240 on a zx even though it's an S130 design? I don't know if the body kits will even cut it...

There's been several people who have removed the bumpers... IMO it doesn't look as good as the S30 tho.

yeah the elongated hood really does it's damage toward the looks. Is there maybe a grille option to cover the massive gap?

I wish I still had the picture, but wasn't there someone on these forums that was doing a whole custom fiberglass airdam for their 280ZX? I remember they left an opening that reminded me more of the S30 style and I thought it looked pretty good. I think the MSA II airdam looks pretty good though.

No it looks better, the 280zx (S130) always looked better to me.

The guy with the projector beam headlights (besides NismoPick) was cutting up a MSA II air dam for a larger opening. Maybe it was only photoshop. he doesn't post much anymore.

Do you not like this look? I know a lot of people have this one, but out of the limited selection for the 280ZX it really is the best looking besides stock.

I just seem to appreciate the luxury and (somewhat) power of the zx with the classic open grill look of the S30. I'm going to see if i can work on it this weekend maybe go to the junkyard and have some results hopefully soon. College applications are due soon so..

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a vehicle with a large mesh grillle? i'm looking for about a 12" X 43" and i'd like a fine mesh, just something without a large gaps, or billets. I've made a list so far of vehicles, that just might fit, what do you think?

1988-1995 CHrysler town and country
1985-1988 Cadillac Deville
1990-1994 CHrysler leBaron
1988-1993 Chrysler new Yorker
1990-1993 Chrysler Imperial
1992-2006 GMC GMT400/800 Tahoe/Yukon
1988-2000 Lexus LS400

there are 12 auto salvage yards within a 3 mile radius of wilmington, right down the road, so i don't know if selection is too much of a hassle. what can you suggest?

you can buy mesh kinda bulk from the ricer stores, its easy to cut and work with and mounting it is easy. its expanded aluminum i believe.

You can get expanded sheet metal at any hardware / metal store, like Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, etc...
