1980 280ZX Removal of stereo Help!!!

ok guys, here's the scoop. I bought this car asa project car, but the more i look at it the more ideas i get right now i;m stuck working on removing the original stereo ( ? do all the 280zx's come with a Composer EQ in the glove?), because all the plastic is crubling before my eyes i took out the plastic infront of the stereo and the face of it. theres one lil f'in screw in the back thats stoping it from coming out and i cant get to it. i have a brand new pioneer system that is now gathering dust and i dont want to tak it to an auto body or best buy (freaking geeks lol) i dont know jack about car stereo but i do know how to test hypothesis and tinker so if anyone can help me out here ill be eternally greatfull i dont need step by step just landposts of wat to do. pleases peeps help out the dumb 18 yr old

what type of tools are u using ? sounds like u might need and ADJ open end wrench ? let me know

you need to remove the bottom lil covers at the carpet level (use a phillips screwdriver) to uncover the lower 10mm bolts (2 on each side). You also need to remove the knee panels drivers & pass side (they have the white light on them). You will then see 2 more 10mm bolts on each side... remove all the 10mm's and you should be good to remove it. There might be several other bolts / connections... but you will see when you get the 10's out.

Did you buy a new mounting kit for the stereo or are you going to make your own. Its really easy and cheeper to make your own as long as you don't want to ever put the original back in.
