Drum > Disc Brake Conversion
The following are links to articles on how to convert the rear drums to disc brakes on the 240Z, 260Z or 280Z. The primary parts used in both of the conversions were: 1989-1994 rear 240SX calipers, 11.4" Brembo rotors, CNC brake brackets (machined disc adaptors), carbon fiber brake pads, and new brake lines (Coni-Seal part #BH177695 or Bendix #77695).

Drum to Disc conversion info
There is another conversion out there. It is the 280ZX conversion. It has first years model caliber and the later years model rotor (small hat). It does require a flat mounting plate. There are several design out there on the net for this one. Most people don't like this one, because of a problems with the caliber leaking on it (don't know about this, I never have had one yet). But I have it on my Z right now and have been running it for almost 20 years now. The only thing I have had to do is replace the brake pads twice. It is a street/track car. You have to change the brake cable to the other side. But that is about it. My first mounting plate was split in two and easy to mount on the rear arm (didn't have to pull the shafts out to mount the brackets). My second mount for my second Z will only have three hole to mount it and will be cut out for the fourth hole. Making it easy to fit over the arm. After that one, I will be trying to mount the 300ZXT rotors to my first Z. I have the s12w calibers/300ZX rotors (front) on it now. Have to look to see if I can find something (calibers) (custom) to go with the rotors. Maybe from a RX-7's or something else. Good Luck with the conversion, Rich.
