I had heard from a freind that por 15 is awsome stuff. Anyway, I was at a hotrod show and I came across a por 15 display stand. When I approached the rep for more info, I was rudely ignored and basicly told to go away. Ive noticed that
if your a teenager , no one takes your work seriously.I have heard alot of people say, the art of restoration is dying out, being replaced by new high tech compacts. The reason is not because there is no interest, but because there is no encouragement or support. Anyway that's all for my rant.

Yeah I'm 19 and I know what you mean by not been taken serious by some people. The best thing to do is make friends with other young people who share the same interest you'll learn lots that way.
Oh and to your credit most Z enthusiasts wouldn't even know what a Z432 Fairlday was.

Yes, being younger does make it more difficult to be dealt with sometimes, but you have to understand that alot of these guys have been working on z's for many years, having a love for these cars and dealing with all sorts of customers and problems on a weekly basis-then along come some younger guys from a totally different generation, having no real appreciation for these classic cars, and these older guys anticipate getting asked another stupid question. You can't blame them. Its about respect that you have to earn. If they see that you have a genuine interest and a well thought out question to pose, most guys won't have any problem helping you out. I've been through it all too, I'm 18 and have been dealing with these cars since i was around 14. I'm not crackin on you guys, i'm just giving my opinion. I'm with you-

Ok don't trash on the old dudes. Some of them just forget that they were once in your position. Be persistent and respectful. I think that goes for anyone that you are dealing with. That guy at the display booth might have been one of those jerks that doesn't like people period. Don't let one *** keep you from seeking help from the rest of the old farts.

 

If you read my post correctly, then you would know that i wasn't trashing the old dudes. If anything, i was trashing on people in OUR younger generation. I was reminding us to respect them and their wisdom.-Taylor

Sorry, I just had to say that, cuz I know you feel it's tough being ignored and treated like crap for being young, try being a *girl* who's a car nut... even when you get older, people *still* treat you like that. You just gotta keep your head high and keep at em till they take you seriously!!! It may take a while, but eventually, you will earn their respect, and if not, then they weren't worth your time anyway!

see people that think were all a little wierd because we like our cars sooo much. my ex girlfriend thought that she was always 2nd to my car. she was awfley hight on herself. she would say, if we went out were taking my car because you dont listen to me because you are having soo much fin driving around in your car. now that were broken up, i know can work on my car without her nagging me

 

That's why you have to date another Z nut like I do! Then you always have a work buddy and they understand why you need to spend so much time with your car Also, I have surrounded myself with friends who are car nuts of sorts, mostly into racing, they all understand about how you need to hole up in your garage for the weekend to get just this one last mod done...
