Tires
I figured this was a good place to ask about tires, not necessarily auto-x tires however.
I'd like to get some medium-high performance 15" rubber. Haha, good luck? Daily driven Z that will see an estimated 10,000km a year. I'd like to have some tires that will last more than a year. Must also be good in wet and dry.
I've heard some good things about the higher end yoko's. Comments?

Re: Tires
Hey the Yokohama A 509's are a nice tire..it is rated as a intermediate peroformance tire, and the tread wear rating on them is pretty decent.. (almost bought them myself)..but hey I'm crazy and bought a set of AVS's NOW THEY grip!..but I have less than 10000km on them, and they are starting to go hard now..awful hard miles on them though..hehehe

Re: Tires
Well.... Right off I can tell you from recommendations from our friends at The Tire Rack, and personal experience, that the Bridgestone Potenza RE730 are the tire that fits your needs. The guys at The Rack test everything they sell. They told me that this tire was the best bang for the buck period... I kinda have an inside grove with the rack since they are one of my biggest customers.... We have them on one of our racers around here and I love them! They handle outstanding both wet and dry, and we have worked them HARD!! The wear is outstanding!!! Well thats my 2 cents with a little inside track info to go with it

I love the guys at tirerack. They are the most helpful tire people i have EVER dealt with. They also gave me a deal on my rims that still has me smiling. I did the RE730 and cant wait to run them. They are on my car right now with no engine! They sure look badass. Hell, even my UPS guy wrote a note in pen that said AWESOME TIRES!! Yeah my UPS guy rules. He has deliverd an entire car worth or parts im sure!

Re: Tires
Hello,
You are right! The Yokohama tires are very good. I run with a set of A032R's and they work wonderfully. But I use them on the racetrack and the conditions are entirely different. On the road course the tires have a chance to heat up and become sticky. For the auto-x the tires dont have sufficient time to warm up to a sticky condition.
I can certainly recommend the A032R's as the footprint on these tires are wonderful. They are almost slicks! And the are DOT legal too. Although they do cost about $140/ea.

Re: Tires
I'm sure everyone is entitled to a "boo-boo" now and then, but I work at Sears Auto, and we used to sell Yokohama (jokomama) Response tires, and these tires came back with more tread separations then I've ever seen! I've seen more Yoko Response tires come back with seperation then all Firestone Wilderness AT and Firestone Radial ATX combined!!!
This, of course, is my experience, and I if the price was RIGHT I might get a set of Yoko's, and you won't find me in any Firestone truck tires ever, but I used to have the Firestone Radial ATX tires on my cherokee and loved them, much like some of you have said you love Yoko's....
something to think about?

Re: Tires
I'm happy with my Yoko's intermediates. I have a set of 15x6" rims on and went with 215-60 and love the look. Check out my web site for pics of my car with them installed on my `72.
