Tachometer wiring between 73 and 71?
the stock tach until 73 has 4 prongs, 73 has 3. as everyone knows, 73 tachs go out all the time. I have a spare 4 prong tach, so my question is can one wire up the 4 prong to 3? What are the wiring differences? It's impossible to find a 73 tach at a junkyard

Auxilary, Sorry I don't have the answer to your question but this is what I did... My tach stop working after the motor swap. What I did was I got a 280z tach for $10 at pick and pull (actually a friend did), put the 280z gutts 240z housing. Everything connects the same except there is one solid connection exposed. I attached a wire to that connection and connected the otherside of the wire to the negative side of the coil. (Single wire connection).
Doesn't matter what motor you put in, you will have a stock looking tach that works. I had a dead tach for 6 months.and didn't want to change my tach to an aftermarket one. I plan to keep the inside as stock looking as possible.
Good Luck!
