Re: Supra engine.
go to hybridz.com- they have lots of information on it, or read the post in this forum V8 vs. RB20DET. I am considering the 1JZ-GTE supra swap (2.5 twin tubo), but a lack of money is preventing me from pursuing it further

Re: Supra engine.
The 2JZ-GTE was out of my price range, but the 7M-GTE is just right for me. I picked up a japanese import low millage one, a 5 speed tranny, and hope to be putting it in shortly into my `72. I also own an `87 Toyota Supra Turbo, so I'm very familiar with these engines. The 7M-GTE is also a 3.0L DOHC was turbo charged and intercooled.
My Supra is pretty much stock, I have a 2 1/2" exhaust system on it, put a test pipe in, and set the boost to 10 pounds and it's a mid 14 second 4000 pound daily driver. Not bad for being very reliable and so dang heavy. I should be able to up the boost a little more with a stock engine in my 240Z and if I get traction hang on for a low 12 second run. If I get things running well I'll upgrade the 440cc/min injectors to 550cc/min and modify the CT24 turbo with 54 trim. Should be a lot of fun. The 7M-GTE's stock head gasket won't take too much pounding so upgrading to a metal one is suggested. The 2JZ-GTE came with a metal head gasket stock, that's why people can easily just do bolt ons and everything stays together. Also MKIV supras came with larger injectors, a better fuel pump, and nice plumbing.

Re: Supra engine.
If I got a 240Z, and I want to put a Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Triumph, Land Rover, Buick, or YUGO engine in it, I will. If its my car, and I want to do that, for whatever reason, I will. You might not, however.
Not like I'm going to do that, but someone out there just may like the more recently developed Toyota Supra Drivetrain over the aged Datsun driveline... and who are we to judge? Just don't try to convince me to do the same, and I've got no beef with you. I may even support the idea! Show me when youre done, and we'll race!
That's how I feel, 240zBeigh.
