Starter Dead on my 260z ?
Hey guys, i tried to start up my 260z this morning, and she wouldn't turn, all my accesories would work (radio, lights etc), but the start wasn't moving.
So i took out my extra battery, and tried to jump it from the starter, and nothing, no noises, no movement. Is there anything else i can try to determine if i need another starter?
or is jumping it by the starter the only way to test them?
thanks

First I'd check the solenoid wire. Make sure you have power here when the key is turned to the run position. If you've got power you could still have as solenoid or a starter problem. Have you tryed jumpering power from the solenoid power terminal to starter power terminal? If jumpering doesn't work, then I'd replace the starter. Good luck.

i tried jumping directly from the starter posts. avoiding the solenoid, and nothing.
and i've already called around to a bunch of auto parts places, these starters are not easy to come by.
thanks

Thats it. You should have 3 terminals on it. One for the positive wire from your battery, one that goes directly into the starter and one that has a smaller wire going to it. I think you can bypass the solenoid if you jumper power to the wire that enters the starter.
