Short Block Rebuild Question

Short Block Rebuild Question

Oil ring position. Books suggest that the top oil ring should be in the 1 o clock poisition and the bottom oil ring should be 180 degrees off of that (shown in the link below).

Does it really matter whether or not the top oil ring is at 1 oclock? I just thought they had to be staggered (180 degrees or so)

Typo

I just realized I stated staggering the "oil ring" postion to 1 o clock. I meant compression rings.
