spitting
my guess would be bad gas build up in the carbs ( varnish), clean out the carbs makeing sure the seats and neddles are not dry rotted. probably time for a rebuild on them.
Also make sure all ports and vents are not clogged
Make sure good new gas from tank to carbs.
my opinion only

if its metal to metal neddle and seat, just make sure they arent grooved or stuck to each other, they are prob ok. clean everything and put on new gaskets. then new gas and try it.
I dont have a picture of one right now but do they have a little screw on dash pot on top ?

the front carb is cleaning up it has almost quit puking gas
I have been shooting WD-40 and carb cleaner in the fuel inlet
and it must be dissolving the crap on the seat
Fortunatly you can capture the fuel with a hose on the overflow
nozzle and a Nalgene container
I still need to top the damper oil in both carbs
she really wants to run smooth

well I got the damper oil level set right
and freed up the carb pistons somewhat they both
seem to drag slightly.
the engine will start speed up to 1100rpm backfire slightly slow down to 400-500rpm speed back up backfire, slow down etc.. until it cant catch itself
but when it lines out occasionally it is really smooth
but I cannot get it above 3000 rpm ever
any Ideas
