Re: question
shorter gears equal better acceleration but worse gas mileage and lower top end speed. For every 1 turn your wheels make, your drive shaft will make 3.9 turns with an r200 3.90 gears. you will also top out in each gear at a lower speed than before. but yes, you will be quicker. if all you're planning on doing is swapping gears, then swap in 4.11 gearing

Re: question
Modifiying the transmission to shift harder will increase your acceleration as there will be less power-loss during shifts. A slightly higher stall speed will also help out, but a the expense of more initial 'take-up'.
A _mild_ cam will also help, but you may find that you lose power if it's not installed & dialed in correctly.
A shorter diff will probably help the most, what ratio does it have currently?
