so after I replaced beat up leaky drain plug I noticed the I was also leaking gear oil through the fill plug threads. I went to order one from Nissan but noticed the don't differentiate between the two plugs, but the 2 plugs in my car are different. while i can use the plug-drain 32103U8401 for both it'll mean I have to drop the rear-end should i ever want to take the upper plug out.

The top plug has a square head that sicks out while the bottom drain plug and the one from Nissan have square recessed openings. Does anyone still make the "stick out" plugs anymore? is what im trying to ask I guess. thanks fro the help. also I didnt know about that Nissan4U catalog. its been pretty helpfull, thanks again

Why were they leaking? Loose? Beat up threads? Did you try using thread tape?

If you really need a new plug, take it to a local Nuts & Bolts supply shop and have them match it for you. FASTENAL is probably the best place (there should be some in California). They have HUGE warehouses full of every kind of fastener you can think of... nuts, bolts, washers, studs, etc. Great prices too.

threads are just beat up. Some tape might get the job done. you dont think the heat from the diff would mess it up? ill check out that fastener place too
