I'm trying to match the original paint for the medium blue metallic on the 1970 240. I inquired at the BASF Auto paint supply shop and was told they could not match the original code. Any suggestions?

if you go to a good paint shop u can bring your gas door and they can match. they have basically guns that reads the paint and gives them what they need.

Thanks. Its 903 ...I could make out part of the first digit to be a 9 on the frame in front of the radiator. going to find another paint mixer-upper tomorrow!

It's already been painted with an off-color blue but I found a good spot of the original color under the brake fluid door and I plan to take it with me. already got it off the car. the clerk told me she couldn't get a read of the gun unless we had a code to start out with. already a situation of lost trust, so I'm headed somewhere else.
