MegaSquirt for a 78 280z?

MegaSquirt for a 78 280z?

I'm really considering to buy a 280z, and I hear all this and that about mega squirt
well I know you get better MPG with it
but what about horsepower?
what are the pros and cons?

does anyone have this set up on thier 280z?

Pros... tunable, user friendly, relatively easy setup.
Cons... costs money, gotta know what you are doing (wiring / soldering / tuning).

The hp gain will be minimal on a stock n/a setup. Remember, single modifications don't usually provide the best power potential. When used with other mods, you can gain quite a bit of power.

Then again... it's not a turbo.

that is however the glory, if you get the megasquirt setup properly you can always go turbo and simply re-tune it for the boost no other ecu "modifications" per-say will be needed. but, its still costly somewhat and time consuming and wont really be worth it on a stock Z. i'd say save that money and put it towards bringing the car to a show car quality or show room like it was new. that or start the gathering of parts for a turbo swap or motor swap.

I plan on turboing what ever I get, so the mega squirt would be worth it then?
but getting it with out the turbo would be pointless?

basically, i like to build up parts and slap it all together for the big outcome at once. so until you get all your turbo stuff assorted and you know its now a real goal and WILL happen then spend the money on the EMS you want to use

i highly suggest you read these till you get sick. i have good knowlege of ms but more stuff comes out so you gotta catch up on it. its a great product.

thats a good point,
I know I will be getting a turbo so I think I'll get MS sooner or later
