Megasquirt

I am curios if anyone is running one and if they are how hard is it to make work. I looked at there website and it sounds all good, cheap, custom to your vehicle. Sounds good but still a little unsure of building it. I have no computer building experience. But definitly like the custom tailored to your vehicle, your parts, your needs, and you get to chose what it does and does not do. Need more info

The MegaSquirt system is - in my opinion - the best way to go without buying a complete stand-alone system for a particular vehicle. I will probably run the MegaSquirt n'Spark setup on my Z in the near future.

A couple guys at zcar.com are running a version of the MegaSquirt sys, and I believe one even has the ignition ('nSpark) part installed as well. I heard it was complicated to figure out the ignition part, but as a whole the entire sys is quite DIY-friendly. I also hear it performs incredibly well.

I have an acquaintance who's running MegaSquirt on his Karmann-Ghia, and he loves it! He says it's better than a pair of Webers, so I'm assuming that's making a statement .

Hope that helps,
- Dave

I've read a lot about it and it looks great. Especially for high performance engines and turbo. You don't need an Air Flow Meter so your intake is more open.
I'm thinking if I ever do go turbo, I'll just run factory electroniics unless there's something majorly wrong with the donor vehicle I get. The stock ECU is fine for 250hp turbo engines.

I read a great FAQ on Hybridz.org about Megasquirt. Its a sticky under one of their forum categories. I looked for it just now but couldn't find it. Maybe you can go to that site and run a search. It actually is about the Megasquirt and Spark ecu that came out recently. I'd say unless you're going all out, use megasquirt for your injection and run the stock distributor. The non-turbo distributor runs "stand-alone"
