Hello I'm new to the forum and was wondering if I could get some of your guys input. I have a 77 280z and I'm getting way to many volts. the needle goes off the gauge. I replaced the alternator after the wire had fallen off and started to arc on the alternator. the alternator was giving me problems after that and putting in a new alternator doesn't seem to of helped. Thanks for the help!

 

The 77 280Z should have an external regulator which could be the problem. Just replaced one on my 260Z that was showing 16+ volts and the new regulator took it back to normal.
