half shaft question
#2
Been awhile since I restored the rear suspension on mine, but I remember them being the same length. I tried searching a bit for you, to see what vendors listed (e.g. one part number for either side, etc.). Most vendors don't list halfshafts assembled and ready to go, just parts. The one I did find:

seems to indicate they're the same length. Do yours differ in length? They might just have a slight difference in the range of motion due to the boots or other issues with the extension joints in the middle.
cheers,
Dave

they are the same length, i think the diff is shaped odd or offset something that would give you that perception that they would be un-equal lengths, but they are identical. infact when i re-did my suspension i distinctly remember this because when i put my control arms back up i noticed i had 2 of the same side, and panic'd, then realized that datsun saved money by just flipping it upside down and using the same part on both sides haha.
and if you do have one that longer, then your crazy.... haha.
