Is this a good brake kit?

http://www.datsunstore.com/product_i...products_id/17

I want to get new brakes for the car. I was reading in the search about brake conversions from toyota trucks, with 300zx rotors etc. But I don't want to be changing everything, and using spacers etc..

So I found this kit here with 4 piston calipers, but no other parts need to be replaced. Has anyone purchased this kit before or know how well it works? $149 after cores is not bad. Thoughts anyone?

Those are just Toyota 4 piston calipers. You can get them for $60-$80 at a parts store... or $150 on that site because they are "Brake upgrades" for the Z.

ok so they are the same thing. I read there was two different styles, a slim and a wide. the wide would rub against the rim? What caliper is that vehicle (make / year) to make it so it wont rub, and i won't need to replace the rotor with 300zx or use spacers. I searched and didnt find anything without having to do a rotor swap.

-pair of '86-95 Toyota 4x4 or 86-91 4runner calipers stamped S12/W on the side

A couple years ago I spent the afternoon in a junk yard & did a bunch of part swapping from various cars. I did bolt up a Toyota caliper onto an S30 and put the tire back on... looked like it fit perfectly.

The S-12W calipers are the ones you use with the '84 300ZX rotors and a spacer to offset the rotor. The spacer is not just a big washer, it must be hub-centric or your front end will never balance.

So I will need the S12 calipers then. I want to replace the the pads and rotors, but I want the bigger caliper and matching pads. But I want to keep the original style rotor. How can I guarantee I will get the S12 caliper and not the S12W caliper?

The numbers are on the casting. The S12W has a space about 3/4 inch wide between the pads for the vented rotors. You'll have to trim the backing plates.

I looked up a set of calipers for a 1981 Toyota 4x4. I called a store an hour away (the only store that had them in stock) and they told me it says S12+8 on the caliper. Will this work with my original rotor? S12 will work, S12W wont work, what about the S12+8? Anybody know?
