Fuel Injector Replacement?

Fuel Injector Replacement?
Well, I got the ol' gal running again this past Labor Day weekend. She sounds like...well....crap, but I've gotta do some maintenance (i.e. oil change, complete tune up, etc.)
Among other things, my uncle tells me that he suspects that 3 fuel injectors are fouled. If that is indeed the case then I'm going to need to replace them.
Now with my MR2's you can actually put the stronger Toyota Supra injectors in with a few additional engine modifications. Do I have the option of doing something similar for my 280? What are the going prices of aftermarket injectors?
All answers appreciated,
runabout

Re: Fuel Injector Replacement?
Yes you do. Some people before have asked this, and from what has been said, Mustang SVO injectors or pre '75 Mercedes 450SL injectors seem to do good. The Mercedes injectors are supposed to bolt right in. The Mustang's flow 370cc and MB flow 420cc. You'd have to reprogram the ECU for the 420's otherwise there'll be some low end power delivery problems. There is a member with a website that has the info on injectors. I think it's Bill92GSX or something to do with DSMs.

Re: Fuel Injector Replacement?
I've got a buddy telling me that it might be more economical right now just to see about cleaning the ones that are in there. Mustang SVO injectors sound kinda expensive, but I have no idea what kind of price range I'm looking at right now for a restoration/modification job.

Hey If you do more research on this like prices and diffaculty I would sure be interested. I am currently tearing down my 79 to build for a road race engine. I am looking for anyway to gain power without Turbo.

Will do, Shane. Looks like that'll probably be my first big project anyway. Did some internet searching yesterday and found aftermarket injectors ranging from $120 to $155. Don't have any specifics, but I'm going to keep looking at options - and listening to the guys here. :-)

What kind of injectors were those? Is that a price for each?

Apex fuel injectors will run you $162.00 each.
Greddys will hit you up for $122.00 apiece.

Re: Fuel Injector Replacement?
If you go to the local Kragen, NAPA, or whatever car parts store is near you, you can pick up those Mercedes injectors for like 65 a piece. Any injector is about that price there... and since the Mercedes flow 420 cc those are way cheap prices for aftermarket fuel injectors if you plan to do some major hp mods to your motor.

Re: Fuel Injector Replacement?
I'm not positive, but turbo injectors may flow more fuel.
check nopi.com for Python injectors. I just asked my local parts guru, and he says he has had no problems with them-
last I checked they were running $40 ea.(they are aftermarket
new units to replace stock inj.)

Re: Fuel Injector Replacement?
If by some chance you were to want just a good stock injector, NEW I've had no problems with the GP Sorensen from Autozone part # 800-1507N. They're only $35.99. I went this way cause I'm not planning on doing enough mods to justify the rest of the changes that seem to be required to have bigger injectors.
