fuel injection problem

I've got a 240z with a '83 280z turbo motor in it. I am having big problems with my fuel injection! At full throttle, the motor will not rev over 5000 with only 7 psi of boost. The thing is acting like it is running out of fuel so I hooked up the digital ossciliscope to the fuel injectors and sure enough, it is cutting back the injector on time at 5000 making it not run. It is acting just like a rev limiter. Does anyone have any ideas why it is doing this? Thanks.

Re: fuel injection problem

Boy, this looks like a good post to me with no answers. This is what I was talking about with how bad this site sucks. There should have been a bunch of posts listing the things I should have checked. Well, none of those. For those who wanted to know, I did fix the problem. After I checked every sensor/actuator two times, I looked at the computer. The terminals on the ECC were corroded. With a little bit of scraping, the car ran better, idled better and took five seconds off of my quarter mile time. Thanks for all the help I didn't get.

Hey man, I am not the one throwing around insults. I was just sticking up for the guy why wasn't happy with this site. I still love this site and check it everyday. More time here should be spent talking about cars though, so lay off.

Re: fuel injection problem

Hey guys, don't forget that I am a fellow z enthusiast too. I love z cars just as much as everyone else here. Isn't that what the point of this whole site is? What I said wasn't a personal attack on anyone so give it a break.

Re: fuel injection problem

I'm not an expert with cars, but when I looked at your profile, and didn't see any ignition mods, so I'm wondering if you are still running the stock ignition (coil and wires). That maybe the reason that your car is cutting out. Not enough spark power or maybe the gap is too wide on the plugs for the voltage to make the jump. If the fuel injectors are still the stock 260cc or so injectors, they might be at 85 % duty cycle whereas they will be maxed out and you'll need to upgrade to larger fuel injectors to flow, not mention a higher flowing fuel pump and filter. Z32 fuel stuff seems to work good. I personally haven't done that yet, but will after I upgrade my turbocharger to a t3/t4. I'm also in the process of changing my ignition from an MSD coil only (due to smog inspection) back to a Crane ignition box and coil. I hope this can give you some help. Good luck and happy boosting.

Re: fuel injection problem

The problem has totally gone away after I cleaned the terminals on my computer. I did think of ignition cutting out, but ruled that out after I hooked up a scope to the coil on secondary side. It wasn't running out of spark, just fuel. Must have not been able to fire the injectors very well going through the corrosion in the computer.
